General Home Inspection...

  • What is a home inspection?

    • A home inspection is an objective visual examination of the physical structure and systems of a house, from the roof to the foundation.

  • Why should I have a home inspection?

    • Having someone who is certified and trained to recognize potential problems that might not be noticed by a casual observer will provide peace of mind.

  • What will fail a home inspection?

    • Nothing "fails" a home inspection. ALL houses have issues, some worse than others. A home inspection will reveal items that are visually apparent and may need addressed. Inspectors look for things that are significantly deficient, unsafe, near the end of the service life or not functioning properly.

  • How long does a home inspection take?

    • Depending on the size, along with other variables, a standard home inspection, without special items, can take between 2-4 hours.
  • Do I have to attend when my home (or potential new home) is inspected?
    • It is not required for anyone to attend the home inspection. However, it is advised that the potential buyer be present. When the buyer is available, any concerns can be more fully explained, adding value to the computerized report that will be provided within 24 hours of the inspection completion.
  • Who pays for a home inspection?

    • Most home inspections are requested by the potential home buyer, (at times the seller). The individual requesting the inspection is then responsible for payment.

  • How much does a home inspection cost?

    • The price varies, depending on the size, age and type of property. Typically, any services additional to the general inspection will be billed individually.
